How to Write Great Statements

Mix the believable with the unbelievable

Make your truths sound surprising and your lie sound ordinary. The best statements blur the line.

Use specific details

Instead of "I visited Europe," say "I got lost in a market in Marrakech." Details make truths feel real — and lies more convincing.

Play to your audience

If your friends know you well, pick truths they wouldn't expect. If it's strangers, lean into surprising life facts.

Keep them the same length

A common giveaway is making the lie shorter or longer than the truths. Keep all three statements similar in detail.

Stay confident

Deliver all three statements with the same energy. Hesitating on the lie is the fastest way to get caught!
